Shepard Fairey Trivia

You may never have heard of Shepard Fairey prints, but they are very widely recognizable and well known in the art world.  Shepard Fairey was born in 1970 and has produced many famous prints, including the print of Barack Obama with the word HOPE across the bottom.  Probably his most famous work is entitled Andre The Giant Has A Posse from 1989 which launched his work into the spotlight.  Shepard Fairey art also includes books, but he’s by far most famous for his prints, which include controversial topics like Free Tibet and the movement for freedom in Burma.

His thought provoking and sometimes enlightening prints are very collectible and highly sought after.  His prints will always hold their value, or increase, because they are very limited, usually numbering 400 or less.  This ensures that any Shepard Fairey art you purchase will increase in value in the future.  You can fine Shepard Fairey prints and art at Shepardfaireyprints.com.  So if you’re looking to add to your collection of art or start a new collection, you should check their website out. I notice some of his prints are very graphic and they relay some type of message.  I personally think they would be great decors for Halloween.

Get Paid to Blog

I started a blog without knowing that I can make money from it.  I started it to have my own space in the web just like others do. I was reading blogs and was inspired by them.  I made one and I enjoyed exchanging comments with other bloggers.  It was only by the end of last year that I was introduced to websites that I can join to earn some income. It would certainly not make you rich based on experience but it helps. You can shop with the money you will be making on blog!  I shop cheaply so it works for me.

I shifted my blog from sharing just my experiences with my daughter to an "all around blog".  Now, I also do reviews and even host giveaways.  Some of my readers may not like the idea that I was writing various topics but I also gained followers from it. I’m even amazed that some of the sponsored posts I’ve written without a single comment get a lot of views.  So if you would like to monetize your blog, just go ahead and do it. There’s a lot of support in the blogging world. You can choose which writing projects to accept if you would like to stick to the main subject of your blog. The only problem I have with writing articles is the limited time I have. I am writing this while my daughter is napping.  I usually make blog posts at night when my family is sleeping. Time is definitely needed when you monetize your blog.

I recently signed up with Bucks2Blog. I would say that some of the writing gigs I got from them are challenging that I have to research on top of sharing my own experience. However, I would recommend that you join Bucks2Blog because you actually learn from the topics that are given to you aside from the fact that you get paid to blog. They usually pay in less than 30 days and you don’t have to wait till you reach a certain amount of points or income before you can withdraw your earnings. They're definitely not a scam.
This is actually a short article about how to make money on blogging but I won’t fill you with too much information at this time. I’ll share some other tips later.
I am participating in a blogger campaign by Bucks2Blog and will be compensated. However, the views and opinions are my own.

10 Reasons to Get an MBA

A Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree has many advantages that can improve the future for someone completing the advanced coursework.  I’ve made a list of my top 10 reasons to get an MBA.

1. You will become more knowledgeable about investments and how risk and reward are related.
2. Your resume will stand head and shoulders above other applicants for the same position.

4. Your logic and critical thinking skills will be honed to make you more productive with financial data.
5. You will have lots of experience working in teams since it will be part of your course requirements in a full time MBA program.
6. Your marketability will be greatly improved allowing you to be considered for more positions.
7. If you want to start a business, you’ll already know how to write a business plan and put it into action.
8. You will have learned how to network with others in your field of interest and you’ll be able to use them as a resource when needed.
9. International opportunities will open up allowing you to work in another country if you desire.
10. Many colleges and universities will allow someone with an MBA to work as an adjunct faculty member teaching business courses, especially to non-traditional students.

For those who have MBA degrees, please share your thoughts on the reasons why anybody should get an MBA degree.

Toronto Home Renovations

Hi to all of you who are our northern neighbors and who live in the great country of Canada. I’ve never had the opportunity to see Canada, but I plan on visiting someday and do some sightseeing.  I heard it’s a very pretty country. One of the large cities we plan to visit is Toronto, and I am currently becoming very familiar with home remodeling by watching the home improvement and DIY channels on TV.  DIY projects are common nowadays. However sometimes it is still better if we hire the right people to do the job.  I would certainly want professionals to fix and build my home someday and will just do the cosmetic and decorations.

There are a lot of interesting projects that people are doing. A few days ago, I watched Toronto kitchen renovations and Toronto bathroom renovations. Did you notice some shows from Canada are also being aired here in the US?
If you are looking for professional and certified help for an upgrade ranging from a kitchen remodel to finishing your basement, you should check Greatertorontocontractors.com. They also specialize in basement renovations Toronto. Their website seems to be very informative and has lots of information that will help you with your next home renovation project.

Alta Mira Recovery

As parents, one of the fears that we have is that our child or children will go into a wrong direction later in life, like be addicted to illegal drugs or something else that will have a bad impact of their future.  Most often, people blame the parents as being irresponsible and for that reason, the kids resort to drugs. However, it is not uncommon with siblings to have a very different personality even if they come from the same parents. As parents, we can only provide guidance and support, but our kids also have the freedom to choose the lives that they want.  And sometimes, the decisions that they make are not always right. There are some children who grew up without parents and still turned out to be nice and honest people.  On the other hand, some really great parents sometimes find their children caught up in drug abuse. What are your opinions on this? Our children grow and they get to meet people, and they will be influenced by their friends.

One institution that can help with drug related problems in California, particularly San Francisco, is Alta Mira Recovery.  Now, there are more programs for people, who are using illegal drugs, they even discourage teens with these bad behaviors in TV commercials. Some of them are even graphic which sparks some debate. In my opinion, I think it is good that they emphasize how bad drug abuse can be and how it can ruin somebody’s life.
I participated in a campaign about substance abuse. All opinions written in this post are mine.

September: National Menopause Awareness Month

Did you know that September is National Menopause Awareness Month?  October 18 is the designated as World Menopause Day by the World Health Organization (WHO). Maybe some of you may have already reached menopause, and the others may be wondering what some of the signs of menopause are and seeking advice for staying healthy during and after menopause.

Menopause is the end of a woman’s fertility, and the average age of menopause is 51 years old. Menopause is defined as the final menstrual period, and confirmed after missing 12 periods in a row. There are some short term symptoms such as hot flashes, low sexual desire, sleeplessness and moodiness, and some long term health issues like osteoporosis and weight gain. Hot flashes can definitely cause stress and are a nuisance to your daily routine, but those symptoms will pass. However, severe health issues like osteoporosis are not just short term, and may become a life changing event.

Consult your physician on other activities which will reduce the effects of menopause on your body. Although we can’t stop our biological clock, we can understand how our bodies work, and do things to mitigate the effects of aging so we can live full and active lives as we enter our golden years.

This post is brought to you by Amberenonline.com. You can check out their website for articles about menopause and women's health.  Please be informed that I am not affiliated with them but I did learn more about menopause by browsing through their site. It's something to be prepared of when I reach that stage.

Getting Fit

This is a picture of me the very first time I hit the gym. But then after I was finished exercising at the gym I shopped at Ross. The next day I shopped at Ross again, and it was even more of a hard time because I had to drag the stuff I bought out of the store. I decided that I would not go back to the gym especially downtown. It’s good that I had a free trial and wasn’t charged at all there. I'm trying to exercise from home and I like it better. I feel that I am moving forward with trying to get fit this way because I am comfortable doing things at home and I'm with RC so it's more fun.

Have you tried any diet pills like diet pills with ephedra? I know at least a couple of friends who were trying to lose weight and even taking some “detoxify” type of drinks. Even when we go grocery shopping, I see this type of over the counter herbs or medicines. As I usually mention, I think it is good to have professional advice from a doctor if we are to take any medication and even to begin an exercise program. I believe it would be good if there is some kind of support and help from those that went through the same process. Exercise can also cause some harm if not done correctly.
We just went grocery shopping and a lot of food are also being marketed as healthy or somewhat healthier like “less salt”, “less calories” and so on. I try to buy them too but I don’t religiously eat only healthy food. I wish I would be more focused on staying healthy.

I participated in campaign writing about weight loss and was compensated. Please be informed that all opinions are my own.

Electronic Cigarette

Do you know people who smoke? I know a lot of them. I don’t want to judge but I feel that people who smoke are somehow wasting money because the price of cigarettes are so high now. Smoking can be addictive but it is great that nowadays there are supports to help people who like to quit. Here in Hawaii there is a phone line help for smokers which is being advertised on TV, there are also patches and other products that will help those people who wants to stop. It would still be a great challenge especially if the person is already smoking for many years.

Have you heard of electronic cigarette or e cigarette in short? Since I am a non smoker, I don’t get to try these products but based on some articles that I read, an electric cigarette satisfy, taste and look like a cigarette but without the same harmful effects. It uses a lithium battery and there will also be no transfer of smoke to the people around the smoker. I think it is a great invention but I would consult a doctor first before trying any type of product that is out in the market.

Online Universities

These days people who want to continue their education have many options to choose from. Two of the options are either to attend a traditional brick and mortar school or to get your degree from a school that offers classes online. Online Universities have benefits which can make them a great choice for some learners. The main benefit is that they are convenient. You can sign onto classes any time of the day and post your homework or respond to discussion questions. All of your assignments can be done online. If you inquire about online degree programs in business administration, you’ll find that you can learn everything you would learn from a traditional school, but without the distractions of sports programs or social groups. One of the biggest barriers to going back to school is wondering how to pay for it.

Higher education can be expensive, but financial aid is available for most students. Just go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ and you’ll be instructed on how to apply for financial aid and what your options are for paying for school and supporting yourself while learning.  Check out online schools, they’re not for everyone, but for many they can be a great way to get your education as a working adult.

Please be informed that this post is brought to you by our friends from http://www.findyoureducation.com/. Anybody wants to go back to school? I'm thinking but I know it will be tough if ever because I'm a mom now.

Free Foreclosure Search

In the past couple of years, the US real estate market has dropped drastically in some parts of the country, mainly in California, Nevada, Arizona, Florida and Michigan. Those states saw the biggest increase in home prices before the fall, so they are the markets were affected the most with the rampant speculation that was ongoing at the time. Since the real estate bubble burst, the flood of foreclosed homes on the market has been monumental. There are millions of foreclosures on the market and millions more waiting to foreclose. So, you may wonder how you can prosper from the situation.

If you have some free cash and a good credit history, you can still get a loan to buy a foreclosure, but the loan requirements have gotten much more restrictive since the crash of home prices. Banks don’t want to get stuck with any more foreclosed home than they already have, so they’re being very careful who they give a mortgage to. One way to find foreclosed homes is to do a free foreclosures search on the website Freeforeclosureblog.com! They have listing of Real Estate Owned Foreclosures and real estate auctions in whatever state you may be interested in.

For more information about Free REO foreclosures, please visit Freeforeclosureblog.com. This post is brought to you by their website. They offer the search completely free.

Classroom Amplification

Many of us attend church or go to classes at our local college and we’re all familiar with those conference audio systems that always seem to have hum and static and we have a hard time understanding what the presenter is saying. If they had a quality sound system, the clarity would be much better and you would be able to understand everything being said. Examples of classroom audio systems are classroom amplifiers at your child’s K-12 school or in a college classroom.
In a work environment, the example would be a conference room or boardroom sound system, or in the corporate training rooms, where a quality audio system would allow productivity to be maximized because the classroom amplification would be beneficial to all workers and the company. Then there’s always the restaurant situation where we listen to background music while enjoying a good meal. All of these are places and areas where a good sound system would be very beneficial. I’ve found a great website that offers quality conference audio systems along with school environment systems, called www.roemtech.com. They offer a wide range ofsystems and will be able to meet your classroom audio or workplace needs.

Canada Meds

I was hesitant to accept this writing offer but after I went to their website, I realized that canadadrugcenter.com is a very legit online business. It will be like Walgreens or CVS online, at least that is how I view it. A person can choose with either branded or generic brands of medications. If you buy flomax, you will be asked for a prescription, the same thing if you buy evista or buy actos because those medicines require prescription. If you are just buying an over the counter vitamin, then you can just check out and buy it. Canadian residents probably will have more choices and can save more money by choosing to buy from canadadrugcenter.com. It automatically lists the other generic or brand options.

Another good thing about their website is they have articles about general health and scientific researches like a study about specific medicines or about diabetes.

We do order from a reputable drug store online too, one which is based in the US. We normally don’t buy medicines from them but we order soap, powder etc. I know, don’t we sound lazy? Lately we’ve been doing the real shopping but based on experience, it’s just very convenient online and you can shop for the prices and refine your searches with few clicks.

I'm a MIDGET!

Inspired by the article, "I decided I'm beautiful" from Harper's Bazaar magazine months ago, I am actually writing this.

I can barely reach 4 feet and 10 inches in a height chart. Yes, I am that short. Super short. Searching online some website says that any person below that height is considered a dwarf /midget. Since I am proportioned, I am then a midget.

Even in the Philippines, I was always the shortest.. in class, at work, even walking through the streets, at the mall (except when there's kids) etc. It is probably the main reason why I was not confident growing up (cause I did not really grow up hehe). I was teased although I would just take it as a joke back then. I don't have a face of a model either. I had acne when I was younger and I still get them at times. In most Asian countries, being fair skinned is also a symbol of beauty and I am dark. Thank goodness, here in the US tanned skin is good! I have naturally rough hands, short fingers, flat nose, "big hair", and yellowish big teeth.

I learned that my feelings does not depend on my height or my face value. Knowing that, I can do more things that I love to do, dress up if I feel like it or wear a faded shirt with holes also if I feel like it. I guess we are all normal in our own ways.. and yes, I decided... uhmmm... I'm beautiful no matter how short or plain looking I am (beauty is relative!).

Here's the lady behind my inspiration in typing this. She has no idea. The picture is from Harper's Bazaar magazine/fashion website.  Thank you Gabourey Sidibe, I can see beauty in you.
