Did you ever try shopping at Zulily? So far, I made two orders from their website and I plan on making more purchases in the future. They have premium brands for ladies, kids and babies. They offer items up to 90% off the regular price and you can even find some coupon codes online. This memorial day, they are having a huge sale. It is a members' only site and it works by members inviting others to join. I'm glad I joined.

This is not a sponsored post but it contains invitation links to Zulily.

RC's Promotion Program

RC was suppose to wear another party dress which has more colors but when I tried it on, it was too small for her. She is literally growing so fast.

I was too tired here without much sleep the night before. I made sure that I took a lot of pictures for this event. This is another first time for RC, her first school promotion/graduation and her first stage performance. She is the most overdressed child. All the other kids were wearing simple dresses, no party dresses/gown.

She is jumping here at the next picture. She does this all the time.

She did better than we tought. We were worried she was just going to suck her thumb and not perform. They performed inside a church. I normally don't post pictures of other people here without permission but this will be an exemption to the rule. I just wanted to share with you these pictures.

She got promoted. This has more meaning now because next month will be her last month at the child care as I am going to be a stay at home mom soon. I feel sad to leave really good friends behind my work place but I think that this move will be beneficial for RC and she means the most to us. I am glad that things are going well now and I actually have more option to either be a stay at home mom or stay working.

How did your Saturday go? We're having a lazy Saturday. Me and RC did some painting just like last week. I cooked lunch and I did some crafts while RC was napping.

Thank you for the new follows. I just got done earlier with commenting back. You can remind/bug me if I missed anyone.
I also like following in twitter so if you have a twitter account or a Facebook fan page, just leave me a comment.

Here are my links: ( Update- FB deactivated my account and wants me to scan a government issued ID because I did not use my real name... sad, I have an OCD about giving away too much information online. Oh well )
I'm excited to be a stay at home mom soon, I probably have more time looking at blogs.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

I was watching the Locked Up Abroad and most cases is drug related and they did not even know that they were doing something illegal. They just accepted to do something like to carry something in exchange for some cash and for some, in exchange for a vacation. We really have to be careful in making decisions as this can affect our whole lives. We have to be aware at all times of what we do and not trust just anybody.

I was watching another TV program (I know I watch all kind of programs!) and they feature some silly laws made before. There was this man who went to jail for selling orchid plants that he was growing in his yard. I know it would also be hard to find a job once you have a record. But what if a person can apply to remove criminal record? I have mixed thoughts on this one, I guess it would depend to some extent and not everything should be removed. I just learned that in Canada, they can apply for Canadian Pardon Application. I’m not sure here in the US. Employers and Institutions now check for criminal record Canada as well as in other countries.

I will leave you with some Canada pictures I found online. I also hope to visit this place someday. My brother went to Canada a lot of times and he loved it. He should have taken me with him.

I hope next time I feature Canada here, I and RC will be in the picture. It looks like a great place, after all, it is the second largest country in the world. First is Russia and the third is the United States.

It's almost Friday! I hope you all had an easy week.

P.S. I notice the follower list is not appearing on my blog tonight. I hope it's just a glitch in the system and not my settings.

Guest Post: 10 Things to Check Before you Travel

Traveling? Go Safely & Return safely to a Home in One Piece

Have you ever gone away for the weekend and couldn’t remember if the front door was locked or alarm set? Imagine getting on a plane to go halfway across the world for three weeks with the same uncertainty. That’s not a vacation; it’s more like an expensive stress test!

Before heading to the airport for an extended holiday run through a home-prep check list making sure surprises aren’t lurking upon return.

Making such a list is a good idea because when rushing around at the last minute even the obvious may fall by the way side:

1. The fridge: Just because food is being kept cold doesn’t mean it won’t go bad if not used in a week. Get rid of all perishables by giving them to your friends, composting, or simply trashing them so the fridge is in a clean state upon your return.

2. Mail: Have the post office hold your mail so it doesn’t pile up by the door, which is like telling thieves “No one’s home; try your luck!”

3. Turn off appliances: Do you know how much electricity is being used by leaving appliances plugged in 24 hours a day? Unplug the mixer, coffee maker, juicer and other similar items and splurge a little more on the road.

4. Utilities: Turn off the heat or air conditioning. Even if it’s on a timer there’s no reason to service an empty house unless, for example, you live in a cold climate where daily heat slows pipes from freezing. Also, check the tap that it’s not dripping.

5. The Car: This can be tricky. Depending on the length of the trip I’d say if you have a garage, use it. If you don’t, park the car near a friend who can periodically check on it or on a mildly busy street where it will be less of a target but won’t runt the risk of getting damaged by bustling activity.

6. Pets (dogs, cats, birds, etc): Services exist that watch animals when people go away. It can sometimes be traumatic for a pet to be left with strangers but is entirely acceptable. Leaving the animal by a friend is a good option but don’t leave the pet at home with an arrangement for someone to come by and check on it because it’s very likely that person will forget.

7. Security: Don’t put an ad in the paper announcing you are going to the North Pole for three weeks. For security reasons and preventing others from preying on your home the less people that know you’re traveling the better. Wait till you get back to share all the memories (unless, of course, you are writing about it on a blog and don’t divulge your permanent address…).

8. Bills: Why should you take the risk of returning home, opening your front door, and discovering the electricity is out? If payments aren’t automatically deducted from your account pay bills before you leave. It’s no fun enjoying the crystal clear water on a semi-deserted island, realizing your last credit card statement wasn’t paid, and worrying about late fees!

9. Last minute tasks: Tidy up so things are clean when you get back. Seal windows and side doors, take out the trash, turn off lights (except one or two that are on timers to mimic a human presence), and lock the entrance before you leave.

10. Have a person you trust available: I truly believe this is one of the most important things to do before going away because it leaves the mind at ease. If possible give a key and all the appropriate emergency and maintenance numbers to a friend or family member who will stop by often checking on your home. They can water plants, feed fish, and watch some TV if they want. Alternatively, a house sitter isn’t a terrible idea but creates a whole other set of issues. If you go that route make sure it’s someone you know well.

Mom Daughter Neon Green

A few days ago, I had to meet somebody to sell RC's Dora doll house. It was my first time to directly sell in craigslist. I usually advertise about consignment events before but did not have the chance to actually meet to sell. It went pretty well. We met at Target parking lot so I decided to also do a little shopping while we're there.

The green top that I was wearing was given to me by my coworker weeks ago, it is one of my favorites now. I like the ruffle detail infront. She said she got it from Ross Dress for Less. I was touched because she says she liked it but it did not fit her so she thought about me. This person has children, grandchildren so to think about me while she is shopping is something.

Game House

Most people who use Facebook probably gets a lot of invitations to join some games. At this time, I don’t have the luxury to play such games. I used to play some online games when I was way younger. Sometimes, I am also thinking of buying the Wii Fit for exercise. I think me and RC would have a great time playing with it.

There’s a website for those who want to try new games called They have games for PC’s, Mac’s, and even games you can play online. I’ve looked through their offerings and it’s very extensive, from great solitaire games to the Fall of Caesar Lost Chronicles.

One of the many benefits of this game site is they have daily free games that are available. Today’s free game is called Miriel’s Enchanted Mystery. So for today, you can download that game and play it for free. Tomorrow there will be another game to download for free. And, if you’re a member, you get to download the free games one day earlier than non-members.

So, if you’re looking for some new games and you’re bored with the usual plain solitaire games or the “shoot everything that moves” games, then you should give this site a try.

Disclaimer: I received a small compensation writing for Game House.

Damart offers beautiful ladies clothing. I love how the blue cardigan matches the printed sheer blouse below.

The second picture is a style inspiration. The black headband matches with the long black necklace and the sheer printed blouse beautifully. These kind of tops are great because they’re comfortable and they don’t show every curve of the body. is known for their thermal clothing that provides warmth and comfort. They have graded their thermal clothing from 1 to 5 so you know if you are getting a piece of light or extreme warmth. That is something unique that I haven't seen on other shopping sites. I know summer is just here but it will be winter again before we know it. Thermal clothing can also be perfect on rainy days. They use quality materials like Ocealis which is made of fantastic breathable fibers.

Damart also offer menswear, sportswear, footwear and household items. They are reasonably priced as well.

Another great thing about their website is they have a lookbook page and an e-catalogue which has 264 pages that you can zoom in for easy viewing and navigation. You’ll find a lot of inspirations on how to mix and match your outfit. If you want a printed catalogue, you can request one through filling the form.

Centrum- Win A Trip to LA!

Centrum GET FIT promotion is currently running a contest that will send the winner on a trip to Los Angeles and a one-on-one training with trainer Harley Pasternak, creator of the 5 Factor Diet. I would certainly love to win! I haven't been in L.A. in many years. To enter the contest all you have to do is text the word “CENTRUM” along with an image of a Centrum multivitamin bottle to 89800.

Centrum is also giving away one Wii Fit Plus per day for 60 days. You can visit Centrum Facebook page for details. There’s also a $3 coupon for your next Centrum purchase. So get off the couch and start taking care of yourself. The demands on your time and energy aren’t going away, so get out there and enjoy the best years of your life.

We all naturally get older and our bodies go through changes. Vitamins are a way to keep our bodies healthy by taking in nutrients that we need as we get older. We start getting aches and pains in joints and muscles. We might walk a little slower and feel like we don’t have the energy to keep up with the children anymore. They run circles around us and we just want to relax after a hard day at the office or while being a stay at home parent.

Don’t forget to visit Centrum GETFIT Page and enter for a chance to win Wii Fit Plus or other prizes.

I participated in this campaign as a member of One2One Network and am eligible for a prize drawing. All opinions are mine.

Mom Daughter Aprons

These aprons are easy to make, I made them from dresses. You can view the tutorial HERE. For my apron, I should have made the ribbons longer so the bows will be bigger. I used some of my handsewing skills. I wish I knew how to use a sewing machine. RC's apron is actually more complicated and I spent more time making hers because I used a dress that has a collar. I had to cut the dress almost in half horizontally and then add the ruffles on top. I'm becoming craftier and I'm loving it. I just bought a lot of craft supplies online and I'm waiting for them to come in the mail.

For those who followed my blog and left comments. I will visit you all tomorrow. Thanks.

P.S. Please disregard the wet shirt on the last picture, my hair was still wet.

Tough shoes

We wear shoes to work, and some of us have special types of work shoes. Being safe at work and at home is not only a good idea, it’s even mandated by the government in some cases. There are many work safety laws that must be followed in some industries. Some of the laws include the mandatory use of steel toe boots to keep our feet safe from falling objects. In the past, work boots were not very stylish, just plain and utilitarian.

Now, there are many more options when looking for work shoes. One website which sells work boots and steel toe boots is If you go to their website, you’ll see work shoes by Snap-on, NRA, Caterpillar, CB, and Corvette. There are many different styles to choose from, from flip-flops to athletic driving shoes to work boots.

They also sell orthotics and insoles too so you’ll be comfortable when standing for long periods of time, or if your job requires you to do lots of walking. Being safe and comfortable at work keeps us happier and more productive. Be safe and protect your feet.

One thing that most people don’t think about until they’re nearing retirement age is Medicare. I was researching about it today and learned some more information.

Medicare is health insurance provided by the Federal Government, and most people can sign up for it when they turn 65, if they meet certain requirements. You can also be eligible if you are considered disabled by the Social Security Administration.

In the past few years, the government started a plan to help seniors with their prescription drug costs. But, many times that government plan doesn’t pay all the prescription drug costs, and the person has to pay the remainder. That’s called Medicare Part D. And you can pay a premium to other companies who will cover the remainder of the prescription costs the government doesn’t cover.

Medicare is a great benefit to seniors, but it’s not automatic. How do you complete a Medicare application if it isn’t automatic? There are websites that will help you with the medicare application, and you can also learn about Medicare Part D supplemental insurance while you’re reading about your health benefits.

Hawaiian Colors

Here are some random photos of Hawaiian items I took last weekend. The colors are bright and a lot of the printed materials got their inspiration from nature.

These pillows have prints of different flowers found on the islands.

These books may not be Hawaiian but I took pictures of them anyway. They covers also can add a splash of color in a photograph.

This last picture was taken on the road on the way  home.

Start A Preschool FREE CD

I am ready to be a stay at home mom. I just have to hand my resignation letter to my boss. Me and my husband realize that I am not making much if we take the child care expenses out of my net pay and RC gets sick a lot. I am absent again today and I will need to look for other opportunities to supplement our income.

One opportunity for us stay at home moms is to start a preschool. I would love to do it because I want to stay at home with RC and at the same time have a great income coming in. The only problem I have is that we live in a high rise building and I would need more space.

You can get a FREE VIDEO about 7 Secrets to Starting a Preschool in Your Home. I had the chance to listen to the CD and there’s a lot of information I learned including some advertising tips. The speaker Joy Anderson makes a lot of sense and I can tell that she is being honest about the experience and benefits that she shared. I have tried different ways of making income from home but income can be very unpredictable.

"NO woman should feel that their only options are to get a job and put their kids in daycare, or to start a daycare themselves.  There IS another option--perhaps a better option for some women--and I'm here to share it with the world!"-- Joy Anderson

Here are some reasons why having your own preschool is a great opportunity

1. Work from home with steady income. You can choose to just have supplemental income or you can do it full time.

2. You will be with your kids and you do not need to pay for child care expenses.

3. Low start up cost

4. The chance of the kids getting sick in a small preschool is lower.

5. If you love kids, you will have fun doing activities with them, like decorating your preschool

Don’t forget to check out how to get a FREE CD about Starting A Preschool.

People Search

Did you hear that Friendster is closing? I used it a lot before. I guess everyone is using Facebook now.

There are other internet sites where you can even search social networks based on the email address like It is good that there are online tools for searching for people that we may know. Being able to search for your old friends from your elementary years, see how much they changed and being connected to them again is interesting. You can be informed about your close friends in college, how many babies they have now and how are they doing. After all, people are supposed to be naturally social. For expats like me, it is also easier to look back and see what changes occurred in my hometown since the time that I was there.

People search is becoming easier. You don’t need to be computer savvy. But of all these social connections in the web, blogging is my favorite. I spend more time looking at blogs and updating my blog than any other thing on the internet. It’s not just connections but it is learning too. There are a lot of informative blogs out there but I should admit that I like looking at pictures.

Mission Houses Museum

Hi everyone, I hope you like the pictures. We went to Mission Houses Museum yesterday for a tour and it was very interesting. I still have some other pictures to share. We were not allowed to take pictures inside and it is a good thing that they do have great landscaping and interesting structures outside the houses.

Just some information about the Mission Houses, it is about the missionaries providing education and spreading Christianity to Hawaiians.  It was interesting to see the structure of the house, the tools and clothing that they used. They also have the first Hawaiian printing press. I was able to expand my Hawaiian language during the tour.

RC inside the museum store, it was also where we had to pay the tickets. We paid a total of $16 and that's the kama'aina or local rate. I was able to take some pictures of the Hawaiian items inside. I will probably share it with you on my next post. We also had some lemonade, soda and desserts at the cafe while waiting for the tour to start.

The picture below was taken at the first Hawaiian Printing Press. It took at least 15 years to translate the Bible to the Hawaiian language.

The well below had a story too but I forgot or maybe I was  not listening to the tour guide.

School Pictures

These pictures cost us $52. The price is a high for me especially we now have our own DSLR but I am so pleased to see them. She is smiling and so cute. Her very first school (child care) pictures.

What we got: 2 big pictures, 4 not so  big pictures (sorry I don't know the sizes) and 16 wallet size. 2 shots

Getting a site

Contribution by Saul Martin

I was really overwhelmed when we first considered building a website for our tattoo parlor. I didn’t really know anything about computers and all the terms that were being thrown around were really foreign to me. Thankfully Jessica, our developer, was so great and walked me through the process back to front. We started researching URL ideas at and eventually decided on a hosting package that made sense financially. Jessica then spent about 3 full days creating a great, graphic site for us that had pictures of all our best work – it’s a real showstopper! In the beginning, I was really skeptical of how a website was really going! to help our tattoo parlor but in reality, business has never been better. A lot of people getting their first ink find us online and then come to the store. It’s definitely an edge over most of our competitors. I’m constantly thinking of new things we should add to the site and it’s become one of my favorite parts of managing a business!

A Cheap Seat - Celine Dion

I’m a fan of Celine Dion. I was just looking at some of her pictures with her twins. I wish I can go to Vegas one day and see her sing live.

If you’re just looking for something to do in your hometown, going to sporting events and concerts can be a great family outing. But sometimes it’s difficult to do research to find out what team is playing in town or what concerts are coming up that you may be interested in.

There’s a website, that does all the hard work for you. If you check out their website, you’ll see they have tickets to sporting events all around the country. They have New York Jets Tickets, San Diego Chargers Tickets, and other sports too, including baseball and hockey. You just use the pull-down menu to select your city, and then you’ll get a list of what sporting event is scheduled soon. And if you’re interested in music concerts, they have Backstreet Boys Tickets, Celine Dion Tickets, and Rascal Flatts Tickets, just to name a few. You can even buy theater tickets if sports and music concerts are not what you’re looking for.

Another helpful tool on their website is that you can select tickets for different seats and they provide a seating chart to the event location so you know before you buy where your seats will be. So whether you want to watch the Red Sox play baseball at Fenway Park in Boston or go see Katy Perry sing in Montreal, you can find the tickets at

Nutrition facts

Does anybody read the nutrition facts label at the back of your snack or any packaged food? I would love to learn it. I think it would be interesting to know. It will probably be hard to keep track for people who cook their meals. If you are conscious about this information or if you are on a strict diet, you’ll have to count calories for each ingredient.

I keep telling myself that I will start to eat right, not because I want to be skinny but because I want to be healthy. If you have a toddler or even an older child, I learned that you will have to be a good example not just when it comes to your manners but also with what you eat. Kids naturally love sweet, well, I am old but I still like sweets and that’s a problem every time I try to eat healthy. It’s good that there are High Protein Snacks that are sweet but still good for the body. They even have chocolate snacks that are high protein, great for the morning. Did you notice that even the packaged food lately is being promoted as no MSG, low calories and low sodium? I believe the demand for healthy but easy to prepare food are increasing.
